CLINTON, N.C. — Friends, family and other supporters cheered on 120 graduates of the North Carolina National Guard’s Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy at a ceremony at the Sampson County Agri-Exposition Center here Dec. 16. “You made a commitment to stick with this program through graduation, it speaks volumes about your character and resilience,” said NCNG Commander Army Maj. Gen. Greg Lusk, adjutant general of North Carolina. The academy is a military-style boarding school run by the NCNG for high school age at risk youth who volunteer for the program. This class performed more than 12,000 hours of service to communities across the state. Two of the cadets enlisted in the NCNG after graduation and will join the other 12,000 NCNG Soldiers and Airmen who every day deploy to all 100 counties in the state. (U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt.
